Yoga has changed Marcy Caron’s life, and she loves helping others to make a difference in their lives every day through the practice of yoga. Over ten years ago, Marcy gave up all other forms of fitness to dive into yoga, and she has never looked back. The diversity of yoga makes the practice all-encompassing.
Marcy has been in fitness since 1986, and she has practiced and studied yoga for the last ten years. Marcy is an RYT, certified through the Yoga Alliance, and she also holds an ACE certification. In 2008-9, Marcy served as an ambassador for the lululemon store in Northbrook. She has continued her education with numerous workshops and teacher trainings, including trainings in couples’ yoga and Thai yoga therapy. In 2002, Marcy was voted Best Yoga Teacher of the North Shore in North Shore Magazine.
The body and anatomy has always been a fascination for Marcy. Her early interest in fitness gave her grounding in safe physical practice, but it was only through the exposure to yoga that Marcy moved beyond the physical aspects by adding yamas - good intention to others - and niyamas - good intention towards yourself - as well as the other ‘limbs’ of yoga to her approach. In this way, Marcy’s progression follows the way many westerners approach yoga: starting with a desire for physical benefit and slowly opening to a more complete practice. For students on a similar journey, Marcy’s classes are always a challenge to move beyond the merely physical to experience a deeper understanding. For Marcy, yoga is a never ending learning process, and there is always a humbling aspect of this ancient practice.
